Why does the electric torch always have such a tiny bulb?

The torch run on dry cell batteries. The current produced is just strong enough to heat the tiny filament of a small bulb to glowing point. A larger filament would not get heated to the same extent and no light would be produced.

The torch is provided with a reflector.the reflector collects and throws all the light from the small bulb in a forward direction, giving a strong beam of light.
